Elderly woman in critical condition following attack on Modimolle farm
The incident occurred this morning at around 08:00 on one of the local farms.
LIMPOPO – The victim together with her husband (both in their seventies) were sitting inside their vehicle when they were confronted by four armed suspects who had emerged from the bushes, Police Spokesperson, Col Moatshe Ngoepe said.
“It is alleged the intruders allegedly demanded money and in the process fired shots at the couple, wounding the victim who was still sitting inside the bakkie. The suspects then got into the vehicle and drove the couple to the homestead where they demanded the keys to the safe.”
During the incident an undisclosed amount of cash, firearms and the victim’s bakkie were taken, added Ngoepe.
The injured victim was air lifted to hospital where she is still recuperating in a critical condition.
The Modimolle Police make an appeal to anyone with information that can lead to the arrest of the suspects to contact Warrant Officer Gawie Greew on 083 661 7239. Police investigations are still continuing, Ngoepe concluded.
