Maphefo pursues equal rights for all African inhabitants and the activists in the organisation are all fuller-figured, wearing sizes from 42 and up, as that is a prerequisite of joining the IAH organisation.

“Our organisation is a well of skills development programmes erected under each activism front in order to serve our purpose thoroughly and create employment opportunities as well as harness skills for individuals in rural and urban areas,” Maphefo said.

The IAH organisation has partnered with Reality Waves, an online radio station that snaps back youths to the realities of the current state of Africa, and the youths’ relevance in today’s society. The organisation also uses radio as a medium to further be active in society as they are on air every Wednesday from 19:00 to 20:00 on Energy FM.

“We will soon open our plus-size boutique which is planned to employ 150 talented African immigrants. Most of its raw materials will be imported from other African countries. This is done in order to empower not only South Africans but Africans as a whole. This is why Young African Leader Initiatives (YALI) has been chosen to represent my organisation throughout South Africa, Africa and America,” Maphefo added.

She was among only 700 youths chosen out of 37 000 applicants from 49 African countries who were chosen for the civic leadership track in America.

“Only five candidates were chosen from Limpopo, and 46 candidates in the whole of South Africa,” she added.

Maphefo will collaborate with other influential and accomplished black African women such as founder and President of Women Leadership Sudan Organisation, Sarah Mohyeldin, Thabo Makhetha-kwinana award-winning African luxury fashion designer of the brand Thabo Makhetha, Nozipho Dladla of Nozipho Dladla Attorneys doing civil litigation, human rights advocacy and legal advisory and Xatyiswa Maqashalala, motivational speaker, life coach and community projects developer through agriculture.

“I am the sum total of everything and everyone I have met, every road I have travelled, every right or wrong turn. I carry the hopes and dreams of my marginalised and oppressed black Africans, without their pain, trauma, struggles losses and victories. I am me because they exist. I am the mouthpiece of the oppressed. It is not a privilege or honour to travel to America but a destiny, purpose and duty for the advancement of Africa, by an African,” she added.
