Uniting people with delicious food

Self taught chef, Pontsho Radifadi Mamabolo is the founder of Chef Radi’s Sunday cookout where he says he aims to unite people with food and good company.

POLOKWANE – “Chef Radi’s Sunday Cookout started as a result of the Sunday chilling sessions I used to host at my place and my friends would visit me. I was just merely just cooking for my friends and I over a weekend at my place and my friends were so chuffed with the food that I had prepared they asked why don’t I start a cookout sessions? From there I saw a business opportunity and I have never looked back,” he explained.

The name of the company is called Chef Radi’s Cookout and stems from his name and their signature food which incorporates African cuisine with a touch of Chef Radi.

They cater for private parties, social markets, camps as well as end year functions.

“I have always loved cooking with my mum and since there were no girls in my home, I’d help her here and there. I work with two other chefs who help with the dishes. We also cook for orphanages in a bid to play our role in community upliftment and upbringing. In addition, we use some of Chef Radi’s Cookout services for business and sometimes to raise funds for charity work. I have always loved cooking, as a matter of fact the kitchen is my favourite place to be,” he explained.

He explained how cooking is not only fun for him but it also helps him with his charity work under the Pontsho Ya Lesedi charity organization. “I believe there’s no use in making business in a black community while the community is not benefiting from you as a business person,” he added on.

His favourite dishes include Mogodu and trotters (both pork and beef) and he always makes sure that those two are included on his menu. “We also make our special organic Lemon Juice BabaChilie with a touch of garlic, jalapeños and habaneros. People can order a container for only R40. The unprocessed BabaChillie can be collected from our distributors in Plk, Kempton park, Tzaneen and Phalaborwa just to add a side to our dishes,” he added on.
