[WATCH] Meteorite strikes near Ottosdal in the North West
A farmer posted the CCTV footage on Facebook and it has since gone viral.
POLOKWANE – According to the farmer, Barend Swanepoel, the meteor struck at around 18:40 on Saturday evening, 2 June.

People as far as Mahikeng and Lichtenburg saw the meteorite with the video sending social media abuzz.

Review spoke to Barend who says his father saw the meteorite on his way back from a friend’s farm and it happened to be captured on CCTV.
“It struck about 100-200km away from our farm,” he said.
