“The Department of Labour conducted an inspection at the shop owned by the businessman and he was found to be in contravention of the Labour Act. A compliance order was then issued,” Maluleke explained.

Instead of complying, the businessman approached the inspector and promised to give him R3 000 in order to falsify the compliance report.

“The officer from the Department alerted the Hawks who conducted an entrapment operation which resulted in his arrest on Friday, 20 April, after giving the bribe to the officer,” Maluleke concluded.
