Police search for wanted suspect linked to Polokwane and Tzaneen petrol station bombings

Police are searching for Boitumelo Daniel Aphane, known as "Aka Small"

LIMPOPO – Police are appealing to the public to help locate this highly wanted suspect who has been linked to syndicate responsible for several recent business and cash-in-transit robberies in the province.

Through investigation by a dedicated task team, Boitumelo Daniel Aphane, known as “Aka Small”, has been identitified as a member of the said syndicate and is believed to be hiding in Petoria CBD or Mamaleodi in the Gauteng province, Police spokesperson, Lt Col Moatshe Ngoepe said.

Aphane was previously arrested for a cash-in-transit incident in Mokopane and appeared before the Mokopane Magistrates Court but later absconded and a warrant for his arrest was issued. Thereafter he was connected to incidents cash-in-transit robberies in the Mankweng, Seshego and Polokwane Policing areas.

He was also recently linked to business robberies which occurred at petrol stations in Polokwane, Nobody in Mankweng and Tzaneen, where an unknown number of suspects, wearing balaclavas, armed with rifles and travelling with different cars (including the white BMW and Toyota Corrolla) entered shops and blew open the drop-in safes. Undisclosed amounts of money were stolen during these incidents.

Police investigations in all the above mentioned incidents still continue, he concluded.
