Manhunt launched for suspects involved in Polokwane petrol station bombings
The suspects fled the scene in a white BMW.
POLOKWANE – Police launched a manhunt for the suspects after two filling stations in the city were targeted by criminals in the early hours of Wednesday, 7 February.

According to the owner of one of the filling stations, Frank Hislop, a group of men pulled up to a pump at the filling station to fill up their vehicle at around 03:00. Hislop added two or three armed men entered the quick shop.
“I haven’t had a one-on-one talk with my personnel yet, but what I can gather a group of armed men entered the shop and ordered the personnel to get on the ground.
“We have drop safes at our paypoints and my personnel are instructed to not have more than a certain amount in the cash registers,” he told Review.
Hislop said the suspects bombed the two drop safes and fled the scene with an undisclosed amount of money. He said he was thankful no one was injured during the incident and he thanked the authorities that assisted them and praised their swift response.
“There were two people from the police bomb unit, who live closeby, on the scene when I arrived shortly after the attack. Police officers were already processing the scene for fingerprints,” Hislop said.
The suspects fled the scene in a white BMW. The manager of another filling station, Sasol Penina Park, confirmed a similar incident happened at their filling station at around 03:30. Ayeshsa Chigopweche said no one was hurt during the incident.
“The personnel are receiving counselling. We are open for business again,” Chigopweche said. The suspects fled the scene with an undisclosed amount of money in a white BMW and blue Toyota Corolla.
Meanwhile, in Tzaneen, a white BMW was also spotted at a petrol station bombing in the early hours of this morning, 9 February.

Limpopo Police Spokesperson, Lt Col Moatshe Ngoepe, confirmed the incidents and said investigations are still ongoing and no arrests have been made.
