It is alleged the man was involved in a domestic dispute with his wife before the incident

LIMPOPO – A 40-year-old man has died in an attempt to burn his children alive after a domestic dispute, said the police on Sunday 4 February 2018.

“It is alleged that on Saturday the deceased has a domestic dispute with his wife whereby he assaulted he severely”, said Police Spokesperson, Lt Col Moatshe Ngoepe.

Residents from ga-Kuranta villlage heard the squabble and rescued her and took her to the hospital for medical treatment. The man then took his children and locked them inside a seven roomed house where he set it alight with himself inside. The children were however rescued unharmed and the man alone was burnt beyond recognition.

All the house content as well as the deceased’s vehicle which was parked in the garage were lost in the fire, confirmed Ngoepe.

A case of arson was opened at the Mokwakwaila Police Station outside Tzaneen.

Meanwhile in a separate incident a 42-year-old woman was arrested after she allegedly stabbed to death her elder brother (47) on Saturday.

“It is alleged the woman from Whereas in the Maake Policing area outside Tzaneen, stabbed him during a domestic dispute.

The suspects will appear before the Lenyenye Magistrates Court soon.

Police investigations in all these incidents still continuing.

The South African Police Service in the province would like to condemn in the strongest possible terms the continuous acts of domestic related killings which are still taking place in some areas of the province.
Residents are encouraged to make use of the local relevant authorities for intervention in case of any domestic related situation instead of killing or attacking one another, concluded Ngoepe.
