A family affair for these karate graduates

The Khan-Patel family's passion for karate, seemed to have paid off as they had their grading exam on Monday, 15 January.

POLOKWANE – Yinyang Karate and Self Defense Owner, Sensei Annatjie de Jager, was impressed with the family’s progress since they started training with her early last year, that she decided to have the grading ceremony.

“Their physical, mental and emotional capacity was tested to the limit and came through with flying colours. They have achieved their respective yellow belts and are eager to learn and achieve their 40 hours to attempt the next level,” she explained.

Karate team, Sensei Annatjie de Jager, Hamzah Khan-Patel,Shaazia Khan-Patel and Yusha Khan-Patel, Senpai Fazlin Jardien and Senpai John.

Brothers Yusha and Hamzah Khan-Patel shared their changed perception on karate, where they initially viewed it as a sport filled with violence, they now viewed it in a different light.

“It improved their focus, concentration, and taught them self discipline. We would like to thank Sensei and Senpai for all the time and effort they put in,” mom Shaazia added.

Shaazia also added that this has improved their fitness and unity as a family.
