10 traffic officials arrested for fraud in Polokwane, remanded in custody

The 10 suspects appeared in the Mankweng and Polokwane Magistrates Courts, respectively.

POLOKWANE – According to provincial Hawks spokesperson, Captain Matimba Maluleke, five suspects appeared before the Mankweng Magistrates Court and were remanded in custody until 26 January, for formal bail application.

The other five suspects appeared in the Polokwane Magistrates Court and were also remanded in custody until 29 January, for formal bail application.


POLOKWANE – According to provincial Hawks spokesperson, Captain Matimba Maluleke, a joint operation between the Hawks and the Road Traffic Management Corporation resulted in the arrest of the ten officers for alleged corruption.

“The arrest is a continuation of operation Siyabangena, which is aimed at addressing corrupt traffic officials in Limpopo. The operation began in December 2017 in Tzaneen, where 17 traffic police and three intermediaries were arrested for alleged corruption,” Maluleke explained.

The suspects are expected to appear before the Polokwane and Mankweng Magistrate Courts respectively on 24 January 2018.

“Operation Siyabangena will continue in other parts of the province,” he concluded.
