Athletic? Join Balamolela Athletic Club today

POLOKWANE – The Balamolela Athletic Club (BAC) is passionate about engaging with athletes and cultivating their talent on the sport field.

Fifteen of BAC’s athletes are set to join the Tuks Academy in March which is testament of the potential athletes can reach under their guidance. This is why BAC, based in Moletsi Cooper Park, has sent out the call for young athletes to join their club.

According to BAC founder and head coach, Herry Lamola, the club is in dire need of athletes.

“We appeal to the community to bring their children to participate in our athletics club. The club has 84 athletes and my mission is to promote these youngsters, mostly from disadvantaged backgrounds, so they can reach their goals as well as keep them off the streets and away from crime.

“As a club we face financial difficulties and we encourage sponsors to invest in us and our athletes,” Lamola explained.

Any interested athletes are urged to bring their birth certificates, ID’s and proof of residence to join the club.

“We love to build winning teams and to get our athletes to the next level. We believe it is fundamental to teach our athletes good character and work ethics to help them become outstanding citizens in our society. We believe in team work.

“We prepare our kids to always be ready to work in harmony with their peers and with their coaches so they can be prepared for any social situation in life. We have realised that most of the youngsters didn’t have the opportunity to get involved in sporting codes, which inspired us to help them develop and grow.

“The athletics club is doing well and it is heartwarming to see our athletes realise their potential. I always ensure every athlete goes to the field and exercises for at least three hours a day. I want to produce top athletes and hope to one day see them represent South Africa in the Olympics,” he explained.
