LIMPOPO – The police received a tip-off on his whereabouts and the accused was arrested at around 04:00 after members managed to corner him and two other suspects at their hiding place in Phiphidi Thondoni, Thohoyandou. The two other suspects however disappeared into the dark,” says Lt Col. Mashudu Malelo.
The accused has been positively linked to a several business robberies which include the following:
A business robbery which occurred at Tshimbupfe (Mavhulani eating house) on 14 January 2018 where two people were shot and injured. According to reports the accused together with his two accomplices entered the premises at around 00:30 and demanded money at gun point. During the incident they took an undisclosed amount of cash and shot two people in the stomach and leg before the fleeing in a quantum combi. The injured victims are still recovering at a local hospital.
The arrested suspect is further linked to business robberies where two Ethiopian businessmen were robbed of an undisclosed amount of money at gunpoint at Tshakhuma Muhovhoya LOC under Levubu policing area which occurred between 2 and 9 January 2018.
The Cluster Commander Maj. General Rosina Mulaudzi applauded the task team members who spent sleepless nights tracing the suspects and she extended her appreciation to residnets who continue to work hand in glove with the men and women in blue to create a safe environment through community-based structures in place within Cluster stations.
The arrested suspect will appear before court soon, concluded Malelo.
