Mpumalanga traffic officer nabbed for Limpopo business robbery

LIMPOPO -The 26-year-old traffic officer, who is stationed at Hazyview in Mpumalanga, was arrested outside Giyani on Wednesday 15 November 2017.

Lt Col Robert Netshiunda says this arrest emanates from an incident where four men, attacked and robbed a shop in Lulekani Far East Section.

“Three of four men, two of them armed, alighted from the vehicle, stormed the shop and took R2 000 cash and an additional R1 500 worth of airtime. Police were informed and reacted swiftly and a chase ensued until the suspects abandoned their vehicle along the Mica Road and fled on foot into the bushes,” explained Netshiunda.

The driver of the vehicle, identified as the said traffic officer, was arrested on the scene as he tried to escape.

The search for the remaining suspects continues, added.

The suspect will appear before the Lulekani Magistrate’s Court tomorrow (Friday) on a charge of business robbery.
