[TAKE NOTE] Water is pumping to Polokwane, says Muni

High catchment areas in the city were affected by a pipe burst on Wednesday.

POLOKWANE – After receiving several queries regarding the water situation in the city, Review spoke to Polokwane Municipality’s spokesperson Matshidiso Mothapo to clarify what is happening.

“There was a challenge with a few stoppages from the plants and I just got confirmation now that all plants are now pumping to Polokwane at full capacity,” he said.

Mothapo said high catchment areas were affected and those in low catchment areas are encouraged to use water sparingly to boost the reservoirs.

He went on further to say that there might be a delay in residences receiving water as the reservoirs must be able to generate enough pressure to push the water to high areas.

POLOKWANE – The municipality has received notification from Lepelle Northern Water that Olifantspoort plant is currently out of operation due to Specon pipeline burst.

According to the notification the estimated time for repairs will take about four hours and all areas of supply will be affected.

Areas to be affected include Zebediela, Lebowakgomo, Moletlane, Polokwane, Seshego, Ivy Park and Westenburg.

The public is requested to continue using water sparingly until the situation is restored back to normal.

Water and Sanitation issues should be reported to the municipality on the following numbers 015 290 2376/2473.
