Rameez Patel charged with his mom’s murder
Rameez Patel, the 30-year-old Polokwane businessman who stands accused on the murder of his wife, was this afternoon also charged with the murder of his mother, who died last week
POLOKWANE – The arrest follows intensive investigations which led to the arrest of the suspect this afternoon (Friday), says Police Spokesperson, Lt Col Moatshe Ngoepe.
According to earlier reports the deceased, Mehjabeen Patel (51), and her domestic worker were at home around 19:00 on Tuesday, 19 September 2017 when she was shot and wounded. Patel was rushed to hospital where she succumbed to her injuries a few hours later. The domestic worker did not sustain any injuries.

Rameez’s phone was confiscated earlier this week and he is to appear before the Polokwane Magistrate court on Monday on a charge of murder, confirmed Ngoepe.
The Provincial Commissioner LT. General Nneke Ledwaba has welcomed the arrest of this suspect.
The General has also commended the Westernburg Detectives on their dedication and professionalism for solving this complicated matter within a short space of time which is a milestone achievement in the fight against any serious and violent crime in this Province.
Rameez Patel’s father, Firoz, was also shot and killed last year.

Rameez Patel is accused of murdering his wife, Fatima Patel and was arrested in 2015.

He is still on trial for the murder.
