Trio crime syndicate nabbed during operation “Lebadisha Tsotsi”

These suspects have been terrorising residents in Mankweng and Thohoyandou as well as off-campus students from University of Limpopo

LIMPOPO – The determination and relentless efforts by the police to fight against trio crimes in the province, paid off this week with the arrest of eight house robbery suspects in separate incidents in the Thohoyandou and Mankweng policing areas.

Police Spokesperson, Lt Col Moatshe Ngeope said: “These crime syndicate suspects has been terrorising residents in Mankweng and Thohoyandou as well as off-campus students from University of Limpopo.”

“During the Intelligence led Joint  Tactical Operation “Lebadisha Tsotsi”, eight suspects (aged between 21 and 43-years-old) were arrested and suspected stolen goods recovered.

These goods included: clothing, two toy guns, 1 tablet, 16 cellphones, laptop, bank cards, ID books, ID cards, Bags, cosmetics and shoes,” he added.

This alleged crime syndicate has been linked to more that 10 cases of house robberies which took place in and around the Thohoyandou and Mankweng policing areas and will appear before the relevant magistrate’s courts soon.

The Police investigations in all these cases still continue and more arrests are expected, he confirmed.

“Extra charges may still be added to these suspects charge sheets.”

The Provincial Commissioner Lieutenant General Nneke Ledwaba has commended this team of dedicated members for the sterling work. “We hope that this achievement will give a relief to all the affected communities especially th students from University of Limpopo. The arrest of this criminals should send a clear message that crime does not pay and the remaining suspects’s days are numbered,” said General Ledwaba.
