Be part of Santa Shoebox Project – spread the love

Giving fills one with a sense of joy, especially if you can make a difference in the lives of children who have never experienced the excitement of receiving a gift, wrapped in colourful paper with a surprise inside.

POLOKWANE – You can make a difference in these children’s lives by pledging to give a box to an underprivileged child.

The Santa Shoebox project began in 2006 in Cape Town with only 180 shoeboxes and since then it has grown to more than 652 180 shoeboxes each year.

How you can contribute:

Visit the Facebook page, https://santashoebox.org.za/ and pledge a shoebox.

You can now, for the first time, purchase a virtual Santa Shoebox after selecting a child and choosing each of the eight items for the box which will then be put together by the volunteer team.

How to pack your own shoebox

1. Find an empty shoebox.

2. Decorate the shoebox.

3. Fill the box with gifts.

The following items are needed:

• Toothpaste.

• Tooth brush.

• Bar of soap.

• Washcloth.

• An outfit of clothing.

• Educational supplies.

• Sweets.

• A toy.

All liquids such as bubble bath, should be in a ziplock bag so the contents do not leak out.

Extra batteries should be included if there is a battery-operated toy.

Please do not include:

• Perishable or tinned food or sweets containing nuts. Please put chocolates in a ziplock bag.

• Medicine or vitamins of any kind.

• Violence-related items like toy guns or knives.

• Anything of a political, religious or racial nature.

You can drop off your boxes at Volvo Trucks located at 63, 19th Avenue, Industria on Friday, 27 October from 09:00 to 18:00 and Saturday, 28 October from 09:00 to 14:00.
