LIMPOPO – According to a statement issued by Brigadier Motlafela Mojapelo, the five men escaped just before 22:00, however one of the escapees, Clifford Cleo Mutonhon (29), was cornered and rearrested just outside the police station yard.
“The remaining four prisoners fled into the darkness and are still at large.
All five men were arrested for an armed robbery that was committed along the N1 road between Pienaarsrivier and BelaBela recently.
The escapees are as follows: Silence Dube (29) from 2205 Block R Soshanguve, Philani Sithole (30) from 116003 Kgwadi Stand Winterbeldt, Mabopane, Thabang Dube (30) also from Winterveldt, Mabopane and Joshua Mogashoa.
The circumstances of the escape are still under investigation and the police urge anyone with information about these escapees to contact their nearest police station or contact the 24-hour toll free number on 086001011.
