Suspect in Limpopo double murder hands himself over to the police

A 26-year-old traffic officer and her mother were gunned down in their home outside Groblersdal on Sunday

LIMPOPO – The 35-year-old suspect in the matter handed himself over to the Dennilton Police Station accompanied by his lawyer yesterday evening (Thursday).

A firearm with one empty magazine in his possession was recovered and investigations into whether this firearm is licensed and if it was the weapon used during the crime is still under investigation , said Police Spokesperson, Lt Col Moatshe Ngoepe.

The deceased official firearm is still missing, he concluded.


LIMPOPO – Police in Dennilton are looking for Clement Mashego in connection with the murder investigation.

“He is requested to go to the Dennilton Police Station where he can assist the police with investigations in this matter,” according to Police Spokesperson, Lt Col Moatshe Ngoepe.


LIMPOPO – Police in Dennilton have launched a manhunt for a man who allegedly fatally shot his girlfriend and her mother, outside Groblersdal.

The incident in question happened on Sunday evening, 27 August, at around at around 22:00, when the suspect allegedly confronted and then shot the two deceased inside their house at Malaeneng Section in Ntwane village, before he fled the scene.

The police arrived on the scene to find the bodies of the two deceased, Kotelo Tshepi (26) a traffic officer who was attached to the Groblersdal Traffic Station, and her Makitla Chileki (62), lying inside their house. Both bodies had sustained multiple gun shot wounds, according to Police Spokesperson, Lt Col Moatshe Ngoepe.

“Preliminary investigations have revealed that the suspect is a boyfriend to the deceased officer and that he fled the scene in a green Toyota Conquest. The vehicle was later found abandoned near Siyabuswa filling station,” he added.

The deceased’s official pistol and two magazines are missing from the scene and the suspect in the matter is still on the run.

The motive behind this incident is not clear at this stage but domestic violence has not be ruled out, confirmed Ngoepe.

There have been no arrests as yet, and the police urge anyone with any information regarding this incident to contact Captain Richard Boshomane at 0798945501. Alternatively they can contact their nearest police station, the 24-hour crime stop number 0860010111 or the crime line sms 32211.
