LIMPOPO – The Saps family violence, child protection and sexual offenses unit in Tzaneen arrested the self-proclaimed ‘prophet’ for raping four minors in the Maake policing area, outside Tzaneen.

Police spokesperson Lt Col Moatshe Ngoepe says the four  victims aged 12, 14, 14, and 16-years old respectively, were ushers in the suspect’s church in Burgersdorp, near Tzaneen.

“The suspect is a well-known pastor and has been calling himself a prophet since December 2016.”

Ngoepe says allegations suggest the pastor raped his victims inside the church on different dates.

“He would invite them one by one to come to the church for prayer and whilst praying, he would attack the victim and rape her,” Ngoepe explained.

The suspect will appear before the Lenyenye Magistrates Court soon on four rape charges.

Police investigations continue.
