Planned water cut expected to affect CBD and residential areas

The Devenish mainline reconnection will be implemented on Friday, 18 August from 16h00.

POLOKWANE – The water cut will be due to the reconnection of the new 500mm mainline pipe along Devenish Street

The Polokwane Municipality said in a statement that should all go according to plan, supply will be reopened on Saturday morning or earlier.

The shut-down will affect parts of the CBD, Nirvana, Rainbow Park, Ivy Dale and Ivy Park extension 22, Westernburg and some of the Extension areas.

“The Devenish line was disconnected in June, to allow for construction of a new non asbestos line as part of the old infrastructure replacement project. Water is currently being supplied through a by-pass pipe which is smaller in diameter,” it said.

In the event challenges are experienced with the reconnection, the municipality will provide temporary relief through water tankers to the affected areas.

The municipality apologises for any inconvenience caused during this period.

Residents that are not affected are urged to continue using water sparingly and all water related issues can be reported to the municipality on the following numbers: 0152902629/2376
