Heavily armed gang storm Burgersfort complex, rob ATM’s

During the incident the armed suspects closed the R555 to Ohrigstad and R37 roads next to the complex

LIMPOPO – The Police in Burgersfort are looking for a group of  armed suspects shot and killed a security guard during a business robbery yesterday (Friday) at a local bank at a complex in the area.

Police Spokesperson, Lt Col Moatshe Ngoepe said it is alleged 18 heavily armed suspects climbed out of three separate vehicles and stormed the complex and instructed the security officers to lie down.  During the incident the armed suspects closed the R555 road to Ohrigstad and R37 roads next to said complex and started shooting randomly. One security officer, who is around the 40’s, was shot and killed.

Two ATMs were opened using a grinder and undisclosed amount of money was stolen, confirmed Ngoepe.

“The suspects fled the scene in  a silver grey Nissan Navara, silver Audi A4 and a white Golf 6 VW, however during the search for the suspects the police came across the Navara a distance away from the crime scene with blood inside.”

The origin of this car is still being investigated and the suspects are still unknown.
