Quick thinking SAPS officials save couple from kidnap ordeal

Proactive policing by official from the Tzaneen and Ritavi police stations have managed to prevent a possible murder of a couple who were kidnapped on Friday evening.

LIMPOPO – It is alleged an unknown number of suspects accosted the male victim shortly after he got to his house in Murudjie village, Bolobedu.

“The suspects hijacked him, loaded him in a stolen Mercedez-Benz, and drove to the Maake Policing area in Lenyenye where they kidnapped the female victim, his girlfriend,” Police spokesperson, Lt Col Moatshe Ngoepe said.

“A police vehicle patrolling the area nearby was alerted to the situation when the suspects spotted the patrol car and sped off towards Lephephani village in the Ritavi policing precinct. Both victims were still in the vehicle. Another patrol van was alerted and managed to block the road. The suspects were forced to a stop, whereby they jumped out and fled on foot into the nearby bushes leaving the victims in the car,” he added.

No arrests have been made a yet and police investigations continue, concluded Ngoepe.
