Messages of condolences after fatal R579 collision outside Lebowakgomo

Honourable Polly Boshielo, Speaker of the Limpopo Legislature has sent condolences to the families of nine people who died in an accident outside Lebowakgomo on Tuesday.

POLOKWANE – Honourable Polly Boshielo, Speaker of the Limpopo Legislature, expressed her deepest condolences to the families of nine people who died in an accident outside Lebowakgomo on Tuesday.

Three women and six men were killed when a truck and a taxi collided head-on along the R579 road between Lebowakgomo and Jane Furse. Seven others were seriously injured.

The minibus taxi was travelling to Lebowakgomo from Ga-Masemola when the accident occurred.

“Words cannot even begin to explain how I feel about this terrible accident. Our thoughts and prayers are with the bereaved families in this difficult time and we also wish those injured a speedy recovery,” Hon. Boshielo said.

She urged motorists and pedestrians to obey the rules of the road always.

“Fatigue is one of the factors contributing to road crashes. Therefore, it is important for motorists to always consider resting every 200 km or every two hours to save the lives of our people,” she said.

Meanwhile, a similar message of condolence has also been sent to the families of the experiential learners on behalf of the Department of Education.

Pududu Maphutha and Taelo Talane were from the Sekhukhune District, and Makelle Michelle Masemula and Mathari Rosemary Sefoka were from Lebowakgomo Circuit.

“May their souls rest in peace,” Department Spokesperson, Dr. Naledzani Rasila said.
