Mpumalanga SAPS detective held at gun point, robbed in Limpopo

Six armed suspects attacked and robbed the detective and a female companion on Friday evening

LIMPOPO – The police are appealing for information that can lead to the arrest of six suspects who robbed a 43-year-old police sergeant and a female companion last night at about 21:00.

The sergeant is stationed at Lydenburg police station in Mpumalanga.

“It is alleged the victims were accosted while parked along the dirt road at Ditwebeleng village in Mecklenburg policing area. The suspects armed with a rifle held them at gun point,  tied them up using shoe laces and drove to the nearby bushes where they robbed the officer of  R700.00, a cellphone, car music system and his service pistol,” explained Police Spokesperson, Captain Mamphaswa Seabi.

“The woman’s wedding ring was also taken during the incident,” he added.

No shots were fired and the suspects drove off in a Nissan NP200, he confirmed.
