Maletse’s passion sets the rhythm

A musician and producer from Limpopo, this music man is making all the right moods

POLOKWANE – From playing the piano in church to setting the mood in jazz clubs, Lethabo Maletse’s journey in the music industry is constantly taking new and exciting turns.

Born and bred in Seshego, this 28-year-old studied music at Ochrim School of Music in Pretoria, where he majored in music theory, music history, piano practicals, ensemble and music business.

Today he is a music producer as well as founder and director of Earljay Multimedia Studios where he says they discover talent, record music, and promote musicians.

“My passion to make music has led me and allowed me an opportunity to grow in this industry. I have produced gospel artists such as Peter Mabula among others. As a producer I am expected to bring in new creativity in every new song I produce, I also have to move with the times as music is constantly changing. So far I believe I am succeeding,” he said.

Being a music producer is not the only talent Maletse has, he is also a piano sessionist and has worked with Winnie Mashaba, Combo and Maru A Pula, Peter Mabula, and Step One Jazz Band. Along with that, he is a pastor of Fountain of Hope Church which has branches in Seshego, Moletjie, Makgato, and Letswatla.

“I love the fact that I produce a variety of music genres and at the same time be able to preach and live a Godly life. I feel this is a special gift I got from God,” he added.

He advises anyone wanting to follow a similar career path to follow their passion, never give up, and always believe that God will guide them on the right path.
