What to do if you are the victim of road rage
The police has sent out an urgent appeal to motorists to remain calm in traffic and not resort to road rage.
POLOKWANE – Polokwane Police Spokesperson, WO Lesiba Ramoshaba, urged motorists to be patient on the road, especially during peak times. Ramoshoba urged motorists not to resort to violence as they can be charged with assault, assault with the intent to inflict grievous bodily harm (GBH), and even damage to private property, among others.
This appeal comes after Polokwane resident, Julius Mabunda was involved in a minor collision that led to violent outrage recently. Mabunda is one of several motorists who reported incidents of road rage accompanied by violence and racial slurring. (Read more about this incident in Review Weekend)

In the case of a collision or accident, the best thing to do is to stay calm and call the police immediately, according to Ramoshoba. He advised motorists to take down as much information about the other driver and their vehicle as possible.

“The registration number, colour, and any specific markings will help identify a vehicle and can lead to police finding the driver responsible and bringing them to book,” Ramoshaba said.
