Players trump Lim trials

To secure their space in the team selected to take part in the South African Darts Championships in Durban from 9 to 15 July.

POLOKWANE – Among those who took part in the trials at the Mimosa Club were players from Curro Northern Academy, University of Limpopo, and the Polokwane Mimosa Dart Club. They competed in the trials in their individual capacity and not as part of a team.

Capricorn Association and Limpopo Federation Committee Public Relations Officer, Susan van Jaarsveldt, encouraged other dart clubs in Limpopo and people who are interested in taking up the sport to visit the Mimosa Club to learn techniques or to make use of the facilities while socialising in a fun and relaxed atmosphere.

“Another problem we encounter is with a lack of sponsorship with us often having to dock up the money needed to travel to competitions ourselves which often leads to some players not being able to compete due to financial restraints. We would greatly appreciate it if we could find sponsorship for our players as they are definitely outstanding competitors who simply need someone to support them,” she said.

The teams selected to take part in the South African Darts Championships will be announced in May after all the trials are completed.
