Six people killed in head on collision on the N1

More than 15 patients were treated on scene and transported to various hospitals for further medical treatment.

UPDATE:

It is alleged that the driver of a BMW Sedan who was traveling from Pretoria towards Polokwane, lost control of the car and collided head-on with a taxi coming from Polokwane towards Pretoria carrying passengers.

The two drivers and four passengers died instantly at the scene and the seventh one died on the way to the Hospital.

Police Spokesperson Lt Colonel Moatshe Ngoepe says police in Westenburg are investigating the accident and says the race, gender and ages of all the deceased, including the number of the injured passengers, is still being determined.

“The cause of this accident is still unknown but police investigations are still continuing,” he concluded.

 


LIMPOPO – According to Honnetsweng EMS the accident occurred on on Saturday, 4 March, on the N1 between Mokopane and Polokwane, when a BMW SUV and a taxi collided head on.

It is alleged that the driver of a BMW lost control of the vehicle and collided with a taxi which was traveling south on the N1.

On arrival Honnetsweng EMS assessed the scene and all occupants in the BMW were declared dead and three passengers from a taxi, were also declared dead on scene.

Authorities are investigating the cause of accident.
