“The suspect allegedly assaulted the two victims with fists and open hands,” say police
LIMPOPO – Police in Jane Furse outside Lebowakgomo are investigating an assault case opened against a well-known community leader and member of the Provincial Legislature, say police.
According to a statement issued by Police Spokesperson, Lt Col Moatshe Ngoepe, it is alleged that two victims, a 27-year-old woman and a 31-year-old man, were assaulted after an argument broke out at a political meeting at Lefa Complex in Jane Furse on Saturday afternoon.
“The suspect allegedly assaulted the two victims with fists and open hands,” he added.
The victims sustained bruises on their faces during the alleged assault and were taken to the local clinic for medical treatment.
The motive behind the argument and alleged assault is still unknown but police investigations continue.
“A case of assault with the intent to cause grievous bodily harm was registered,” concluded Ngoepe.
