Two woman held at gunpoint at local mall

“The crime rate in our town is rapidly increasing and we, the residents, do not feel safe anymore” - victim

MOKOPANE – “The crime rate in our town is rapidly increasing and we, the residents, do not feel safe anymore.”

These are the words of a despondent resident after a business woman was targeted by two-armed robbers in Mokopane Mall this afternoon (Monday).

Mokopane Police Spokesperson, Sgt Irene Masingi reports: “The woman and her co-worker were on their way to deposit money at the bank when they were confronted by two armed men. The men held the co-workers at gunpoint and demanded they hand over their money; they fled the scene with an undisclosed amount of cash.”

“The gunmen fired a warning shot into the ground, fortunately no one was hurt.”

Masingi further said the suspects are still at large and the police appeal to anyone with information to come forward.
