TUT tests suspended

A small group of students staged a small protest outside of the campus on Wednesday morning.

POLOKWANE – Even though the situation at the Polokwane campus of the Tshwane University of Technology (TUT) remains calm, a decision was taken that the test week would be suspended from today until Friday.  The university recess is next week.

A small group of students staged a small protest outside of the campus on Wednesday morning, but it could not be confirmed whether the group consisted of TUT students.

The situation at the campus is calm.

POLOKWANE – All academic activities at the  Tshwane University of Technology (TUT) Polokwane campus continues unaffected.

According to reports the activities at Polokwane campuse will continue as scheduled, since the campus has not been affected by the #feesmustfall protest action and the disruption of activities.

According to statement released by TUT the situation at the majority of campuses have been calm since this morning (Tuesday) following  yesterday’s (Monday) decision made by  the management of the Tshwane University of Technology, in consultation with the Institutional SRC,  to start the recess period earlier, with effect from 27 September 2016.

“Although the University recognises students’ right to protest, it also has a responsibility to ensure that no student is disadvantaged in the process.”

“The decision is applicable to all campuses, except Soshanguve North and South, Polokwane and Mbombela  and was taken in the light of the escalating disruptions at the Pretoria, Arcadia, Arts, Ga-Rankuwa and eMalahleni campuses and the possible risk to the safety of students, staff and property.”
