Lim police investigating two separate business robberies

Police in Limpopo have launched manhunts for two separate cases of armed robbery.

LIMPOPO – The first incident took place in Bela Bela on Sunday where three men held staff members at gunpoint and took 120 different makes of cell phone handsets and one pair of running shoes from a sports shop at Bela Mall. The men left in a hurry after someone at the entrance whistled. It is alleged they left behind one 9mm pistol with the make and serial number filed off in their haste to leave the scene. Lieutenant Colonel Moatshe Ngoepe says investigations are ongoing and appeals to anyone with information to contact the nearest police station.

The second incident occurred yesterday in Tzaneen as two unknown men allegedly robbed a retail shop at the Crossing Mall in the Tzaneen CBD. The two men, armed with a firearm and a knife entered the shop pretending to be customer; they then produced a firearm and a knife and ordered the employees to open the safe.

Lt Col Ngoepe says they took 30 boxes of cell phones valued at R120 000 and R2000 cash before fleeing the scene on foot. “No shots were fired and no injuries were sustained,” said Ngoepe.

Anyone with information is requested to contact LT. Colonel Jabulani Ngobeni at 082 451 7181 or the nearest Police Station or call the crime stop number 086 001 0111.
