Polokwane police artisan accused of stealing firearm

"The firearm along with thirteen rounds of ammunition was found in the suspect’s car"

POLOKWANE –  A police artisan was charged following an intelligence driven joint operation led by Hawks Firearm Organised Crime Unit and SANEB members on Saturday, 10 September.

According to reports the 39-year-old man took possession of the firearm on 16 November 2015, Provincial Hawks spokesperson, Capt Matimba Maluleke said.

“He received the firearm from family of the lawful owner who had passed away. Instead of handing it to the Designated Firearm Officer, he kept the firearm, added Maluleke.

“The firearm along with thirteen rounds of ammunition was found in the suspect’s car in Ladanna,”

He will appear in the Polokwane Magistrate’s Court tomorrow (Monday) on the charge of possession of unlicensed firearm concluded Maluleke.
