3 members of carjacking syndicate arrested

Three men, believed to be part of a carjacking syndicate, who robbed a woman of her vehicle on Friday were arrested near Polokwane on Saturday, say the police.

LIMPOPO – According police spokesperson, Col Malasela Ledwaba, the woman was driving in Polokwane on Friday night when she was accosted by the suspects. They robbed her of her vehicle and left her stranded in a village just outside Polokwane.

The matter was reported to the police who immediately launched a search for the suspects he said.

 

A team of dedicated police members from Mankweng and Polokwane with the assistance of a tracker company tracked recovered the abandoned  vehicle, a red Golf 7 VW, at Ga-Malahlela village outside Mankweng on Saturday afternoon.

Further investigation led to the arrest of three suspected car thieves traveling in a white Golf 6 VW added Ledwaba.

Three illegal pistols, believed to have been used to commit criminal activities, were also confiscated during the arrest.

Whether the 2nd vehicle is stolen is still being investigated concluded Ledwaba.

The Provincial Commissioner of Limpopo Lt General Nneke Ledwaba commended members for the hard work and dedication. This shows that members are ready to protect citizens and their property.
