Stock theft syndicate members arrested, livestock recovered

Five members believed to be part of a stock theft syndicate were arrested during a SAPS special operation in the Seshego, Mokopane and Polokwane areas recently, say the police.

LIMPOPO – The suspects, aged between 34 and 46 year old, were arrested in the Seshego, Mokopane and Polokwane areas after members from the SAPS Stock Theft Unit pulled over trucks, believed to be transporting the stolen livestock, along three different roads in the province explained police spokesperson Lt Col Moatshe Ngoepe.

30 heads of cattle were recovered during the operation added Ngoepe.

The suspects will appear before Seshego and Mokopane Magisterial Courts respectively.

At this stage the origin and owners of the livestock is still unknown. Police Investigations are still continuing.

Any member of the community who have lost cattle, may contact the Provincial Commander of Specific Crime Investigation, Colonel Alpheus Mokale on 082 565 6524 he concluded.
