A massive protest is being organised for Monday morning outside the Polokwane Regional Court to oppose bail for the three suspects who are in custody for the Anisah Moosa kidnapping.

POLOKWANE – Moosa was kidnapped outside her uncle’s home in Nirvana in March and was held hostage while the kidnappers demanded ransom from her family afterwhich a rescue operation led to her safe return.

Samuel Kubo (28), Masilo Elias Gafane (33) and Benny Mudau (34) face charges of hijacking and the attempted murder of three police officers, who were shot during the rescue operation and appeared in the Polokwane Regional Court which was met with big crowds in front of the court opposing that bail should be granted.

Stephina Malatji who was outside of the court said that she does not want the kidnappers to get bail. “Our children should be safe and not live in fear,” she said.

Fowzia Mosam, who was also part of the protest said she hoped the outcome would be in their favour. “They cannot go free,” she exclaimed.

Led by family spokesperson Yusuf Abramjee, the protest will occur before the court on Monday morning and Abramjee has urged residents to join them.

“The hearing will resume on Monday with closing arguments to be made and we are hoping for positive results,” he says.

He also mentioned that no further arrests relating to the case have been ruled out.
