[VIDEO] protesters attempt to set alight councillors house

The situation in front of the Mogalakwena Municipality has calmed down somewhat due to rain.

Protesters are unperturbed by the presence of the police as they attempted to set alight the councillor Sam Montane’s house. Protesters earlier covered a police vehicle with sewage. The police called in back-up and are still on the scene.

MOKOPANE –  The group of protesters are currently on their way to councillor Sam Montane’s house.
Police are now on the scene blocking the path of the angry protesters. The group is currently in Dudu Madisha Street. Motorists are advised to use alternative routes.

MOKOPANE – Using a Mogalawena Municpality Anti-Waste truck, protesters broke through the gate of the Mayor’s House in Taylor Street.

Sewage has been dumped as well as rubbish littered across his yard. No police are on the scene.

MOKOPANE – “If the mountain does not come to us we will go to the mountain.”

These are the heated words of the protesters as they make their may toward the mayor’s house. Motorists are warned to avoid Retief Street as protesters are blocking the roads with whatever they can get their hands on.

The situation in front of the Mogalakwena Municipality has calmed down somewhat due to rain.

One police vehicle is currently on the scene.

MOKOPANE – Solid waste fills the streets of Mokopane, while thick black smoke from burning tyres forms a blanket over Mokopane as chaos erupts at the Mogalakwena Municipality.

Municipal employees have blocked off Ruiter Street in front of the Mogalakwena Muncipality with burning tyres, rocks and Mogalakwena Solid Waste trucks.

Mogalakwena Fire Department personnel and traffic department personnel are currently not at work, as they have threatened and labelled as traitors, a reliable source told Bosveld.

This is the current situation in after chaos erupted on Monday morning. Motorists have been advised to avoid Ruiter street.
