UPDATE: Standstill at Mogalakwena muni continues

The Mogalakwena Municipality standstill continues. 'We will only go back to work once our voice is heard and a resolution is made."

MOKOPANE –  The Mogalakwena Municipality came to a standstill on Thursday and services came to a halt for the third time since December. Municipal employees decided to down their tools as their demands are still not adhered.

The Municipal employees blocked off Ruiter Street in front of the Mogalakwena Municipality on Friday in an attempt to emphasise their grievances.

Jabu Mashamaite, Chairperson of SAMWU, told Bosveld on Monday morning, they are not part of the strike as they have recently been served with an interdict and SAMWU obeys the law. “The working force took this situation into their own hands,” Mashamaite said.

The situation was calm on Monday morning as employees gathered peacefully on the premises.

Percy Nketse, representative of the worker force, told Bosveld on Monday, they will only go back to work once their voice is heard and a resolution is made.

Bosveld appeals to all of our readers to avoid Ruiter Street in front of the Mogalakwena Municipality until the situation is resolved.
