Mankweng protests: police arrest 18

"The turmoil was immediately halted after today's arrests" - Provincial Police Spokesperson, Col Ronel Otto

LIMPOPO – 18 suspects including a minor were arrested today during an illegal gathering in the Mankweng area.

This follows after the earlier protests in Mankweng where residents blocked roads with burning tyres and stones.

According to Provincial Police Spokesperson, Col Ronel Otto, the residents were protesting against exorbitant assessment rates and schooling in the area was disrupted and stores closed on Wednesday.

“The seven suspects who were arrested yesterday for public violence have been released.”

The turmoil was immediately halted after today’s arrests concludes Otto.
