New development in Fatana case

Another suspect in connection with the murder of Sello Gideon Fatana, a well-known taxi-owner, was arrested and appeared before Magistrate Annelies Swanepoel in the Mokopane Magistrate's Court last Thursday

MOKOPANE – Fatana was shot and killed in front of his house in Fourie Street on 27 March.

Thabo Matlaila and Charles Mogale were arrested for the murder of Fatana and were denied of bail last year.

Sithole Thomas Monise (35) a Mozambican national appeared before court last Thursday, but did not apply for bail.

Swanepoel postponed the case to 25 February when Monise will be served with an indictment.

It is alleged that there is a link between the Fatana murder case and the Charles Mgidi murder case as Desmond Machaba is involved in both cases.

Mgidi was shot on 4 April in front of a filling station in Nelson Mandela Drive and Samuel Matjila, Machaba and Patrick Sekhu were arrested on the same day.

The trial date for Matjila, Machaba and Sekhu has been set for 3 to 13 May in the Polokwane High Court.

Matlaila and Mogale’s trial date has been set in the Polokwane High Court for 31 May to 10 June.
