MOKOPANE – A 75-year-old employee of Abies Fuel was rushed to the Mokopane Hospital last Tuesday afternoon after he was attacked by three watch dogs from the neighbouring business.

According to Mohamed Ismail, owner of Abies Fuel, the employee was in the backyard closing-up to go home when the three dogs broke through a hole in the wall between the two properties and attacked him. “Everyone jumped in to get the dogs of him, but he already sustained severe injuries and was rushed to the Mokopane Hospital by Special Operations Solutions (SOS). He is still recovering in hospital and I believe he will be spending the festive season there.”

Ismail told Bosveld he opened a case at the Mokopane Police Station and reported the matter to the Percy Fyfe SPCA.

Marcelle Maritz, manager of the Percy Fyfe SPCA, said: “According to the law the SPCA cannot interfere until the case has been thoroughly investigated. We can only interact after we have received a court order stating that the dogs should be put to sleep.”
