LIMPOPO – A 29-year-old man was arrested in connection with the murder of a 53-year-old game farmer who was asleep in his farmhouse in Rooiberg near Bela Bela on Saturday.
“Preliminary investigation showed that the deceased may have been strangled. However a postmortem is still to be conducted to determine the cause of death.”
“The intruders forced their way into the house and killed him before removing the safe and fleeing the scene,” said police spokesperson Col Malasela Ledwaba.
Rooiberg Police were informed and a manhunt was launched.
“The 29 year old suspect was apprehended at Bela Bela. The stolen safe with contents namely fire arm ammunition and undisclosed amount of cash were also recovered in the bushes outside Bela Bela. A search for more suspects is still ongoing.”
The arrested suspect Faces charges of murder and possession of suspected stolen property and is expected to appear before Bela Bela Magistrate court soon concludes Ledwaba.
