The 36-year-old man from Moletlane-Mmatjatji, who killed his four sons by slitting their throats is still in hospital
POLOKWANE – The 36-year-old man from Moletlane-Mmatjatji, who killed his four sons on Friday by slitting their throats is still in hospital.
The police say the man attempted to take his own life after the attack.
The killings happened on Friday evening after the man and his sons, aged between four and 13, returned from Gauteng, where the boys had visited their mother.
“It is alleged that the suspect and his wife were not on good terms. He collected the children on Friday and went to Gauteng to visit his wife,” explained provincial police spokesperson, Col Ronel Otto.
It is reported that the man made his youngest son call his mother while the attack took place. The mother then called her parents and asked them to inform the police.
It is alleged the mother is still traumatised by the incident and refuses to speak, but will receive counselling.
Otto said the man will be charged with four counts of murder.
The funeral of the boys is expected to take place on Saturday.
