Rudi Roets ‘ultimate last man standing’

The Mixed Martial Arts (MMA) fans were not disappointed at the Cage Rage 10 in the city at St Marco Hall recently.

POLOKWANE – The Mixed Martial Arts (MMA) fans were not disappointed at the Cage Rage 10 in the city at St Marco Hall recently.

In the main event, the last man standing ultimate challenge, eight contestants from around the country competed for the R20 000 cash prize and the South African World International Martial Arts Association and Organisation (WIMAAO) championship belt. Local fighter, Rudi Roets from the Guts and Glory MMA club, stood tall as the ultimate last man standing.

The action throughout was very well attended and the audience were glued to their seats, witnessing an action-packed event filled with professional and amateur fighting bouts.

In attendance were Junior Ramusi, Senior Manager of Sport Development at the Department of Sport, Arts and Culture along with various delegates from this department, as well as many top local business people.

The event was hosted by St Marco Hall in association with the Wild West Warriors and the WIMAAO South African Federation.

Cage Rage 11 is scheduled to take place towards the end of the year. Roets, the current last man standing champion will then have to defend his national title.

The winner in the 60 kg pro-individual division is Paul Kubannek who beat Kobus Young to take home a cheque for R5 000.

This was Kubannek’s eigth Cage Rage event participation, making him the fighter with the longest record of taking part in this series.
