TUT mourns Monareng

TUT said they will be helping with funeral arrangement for Monareng who will be laid to rest in Bushbuckridge, Mpulanga on Saturday.

This week TUT suspended academic activities at all campuses, in honour of Monareng.

Prof Stanley Mukhola, deputy vice-chancellor said the academic calendar had been adapted to make up for the five days lost to mourning.

Final exams will now take place from 12 to 30 November, with re-examinations starting on 3 December.

A decision on the way forward with regards to the SRC elections would be taken later, the institution has announced.

“No stone will be left unturned to get to the bottom of alleged election irregularities that led to the disruptions and the subsequent shooting,” vice-chancellor and principal Prof van Staden said.

“The findings of investigations into Monareng’s death and the forensic investigation instituted by TUT into the alleged election irregularities will go a long way to ensure accountability.”
