Fidelity Titans take on WP women in Centurion this coming weekend in a historic match

The Titans women’s team also known as Fidelity Titans will face Western Province in the CSA Women’s T20 Challenge at SuperSport Park this coming Sunday (3 December) and it will be the first women’s domestic match where tickets will be available to the public.

While women’s cricket has become a full-fledged professional sport in South Africa these days, women’s teams in the various local leagues are slowly but surely moving out of the shadow of their male colleagues.

The Fidelity Titans, the local women’s professional team have already made great strides in establishing themselves, the first and best of which is surely receiving their own title sponsor. On the field, however, this team still achieved average success.

The Fidelity Titans are currently defending the province’s honour in two of the local series for women’s teams. While currently sitting in fourth place on the log in the CSA Women’s Professional League Division 1 (50 innings), they are still fighting to climb higher in the CSA Women’s Provincial T20 Competition 2022/23.

This past weekend, the ladies of the Fidelity Titans played in their fourth match in the CSA Women’s T20 Challenge against the ladies of the Dolphins Women’s team in Durban. The Fidelity Titans were sent in to bat first and thanks to good contributions from Anneke Bosch (26), Gandhi Jafta (23), Sune Luus (31) and Amogelang Maphangula (23) the ladies from Centurion managed a respectable total of 133/6 in their 20 overs.

Masabata Klaas opened the bowling for the Fidelity Titans and she struck right in the first over when she took the wicket of Nobuhle Busane (0).

Star batsman Nadine de Klerk (8) fell victim to Kay-Leigh Tapp in the next over and the Dolphins’ ladies were already in trouble. After that the wickets fell with regularity and the home side were all out for 119 runs.

Klaas and Tapp ended up taking 3 wickets each.

This coming Sunday (December 3) a historic event will take place at SuperSport Park. The Titans women’s team also known as Fidelity Titans will face Western Province in the CSA Women’s T20 Challenge at SuperSport Park and the action will start at 11:00.

This fixture marks a significant step forward for women’s cricket, with it being the first women’s domestic match where tickets will be available to the public. Tickets will be available on the day of the game or at TicketPro.
