E-tolls are a thuggish way of taking people’s money for nothing

Owning a car in Gauteng, buying a means of transport once, does not mean you have money or that you have stable employment.

Christopher Zindi writes:

Please note that the government did not make proper inquiries and investigations with the citizens before establishing the e-toll project.

I suspect that it was a big deal between the e-toll building company and politicians who wanted to take money in unreasonable ways from people who are poor already.

Owning a car in Gauteng, buying a means of transport once, does not mean you have money or that you have stable employment.

Then the government comes in again and wants to swindle you out of the little money you have that is meant to buy bread and feed your family through e-tolling, which was not there when the freeways were built.

We are people who pay for licensing our cars, fuel levies, toll gates and other car services.

Now e-toll is for what reason? The public at large is poor and cannot be forced or be put under duress to pay for something that never existed in the system and was orchestrated by corrupt leaders. This is not America. We in Africa, we live our African style.

Therefore e-tolling must with immediate effect be scratched. We do not want a government that robs its innocent citizens by such an unfair approach and implementation.

Many people have no jobs in Gauteng and are hustling for survival by buying tomatoes from fresh fruits markets for resale to feed their family – just going through e-tolls you get charged again in our liberated land and country.

We are paying a lot of money to traffic departments and other road infringements plus toll gates, etc. That can be used for repairs to the roads.
