LETTER: Thankful for services rendered by councillor Strange

"As we will be voting, I truly wish whoever will be elected, will do the same, deliver services to the people."

The Bible teaches us to give honour to whom honour is due.

I’m am truly thankful for what Mr Mike Strange, the DA councillor for Pretoria East ward 102 did for us.

My niece needed a letter while applying for the national student funding. Two days before the closing date of applications, she was told she needed to get proof of residence in her own name.

We went to the municipal offices and we were told we needed to get that from the councillor of the ward where we reside. We were given the numbers by the lady in the municipal offices at Shere Place (I’m also grateful to her for her help as well).

We were told we could only get the letter from him.

It was already late in the afternoon. I was doubtful if we would ever get help. I dialled Mr Strange’s number. I did not believe it when he answered his phone because most councillors are never found when needed.

He was caught up between meetings but he promised me that I would have the letter by the end of the day. I just thought to myself “it’s councillor talk” and thought nothing would happen.

However, Mr Strange kept his promise. He made sure the letter we needed was delivered that evening, even though he had to do it in between meetings.

As we will be voting, I truly wish whoever is elected, does the same – deliver services to the people. This is not a political campaign. However, as I said in the beginning, when people do what we expect them to do and even more, we should be grateful and show or express it.

Thank you Mr Strange. May God bless you. Keep up the good work.
