LETTER: Millions of city cameras

"Look at the upheavals and dissatisfaction in the land and the looting and the damages done with impunity."

The time has come that we face facts and openly proclaim: silence is no longer golden.

Why do we need these cameras? The answer is clear: neither the SAPS nor the metro police are at present competently ensuring the safety of the citizens.

Look at the upheavals and dissatisfaction in the land and the looting and the damages done with impunity.

What admission is the buying of cameras? And will the evidence gained by such cameras be enforced like e-toll camera evidence that is not enforced?

Where in the world but in South Africa have you heard that police stations need be guarded by security people?

And which cadre is going to get the contract for the supply and installation of the cameras at inflated tender prices? Who is going to pay for all this? You and I. We are over-taxed already!

The silence of Rekord is no longer golden!
